Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a one-sided encounter at the Ekana Sports City, Lucknow, in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Friday.

KL Rahul’s side comfortably chased down the 177-run target in the 19th over. He led from the front by scoring 82 runs on 53 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 154.72 as his side recorded their fourth win of the tournament.

Apart from Rahul, Quinton de Kock scored a half-century, scoring 54 runs on 43 balls before losing his wicket to inform Mustafizur Rahman. After their openers had departed, Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis finished the job for their side by chasing the target with six balls to spare.

Meanwhile, in the first innings, CSK batters were troubled greatly by the LSG bowling attack as players like Rachin Ravindra, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube and Sameer Rizvi failed to score big with the bat.

Ravindra Jadeja top-scored for his side with 54 runs from 40 balls courtesy of six boundaries while Ajinkya Rahane and Moeen Ali contributed 36 and 30 runs respectively.

The five-time IPL winners looked like they would have to settle with a low total but MS Dhoni did what he does best as he scored 28 runs on just 9 deliveries with three fours and two sixes.

He also hit a massive 101m six to Yash Thakur as the ball went all the way into the stands and the crowd, covered in yellow, roared. CSK ended their innings scoring 176-6 in the allocated overs.

On the batting charts, RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli, unsurprisingly, leads the race for the Orange Cap with 361 runs from seven innings, while SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen has smashed 24 sixes in six innings.

In the bowling department, Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal was pipped by Mumbai Indians’ premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who now has 13 wickets.
